Dr. Barrett serves as Associate Professor of Finance, Director of the undergraduate program in International Finance and Marketing, and Co-Director of the Bermont/Carlin Scholars program, at the University of Miami’s School of Business Administration. He is a specialist in bond markets, financial futures, portfolio management, and interest rate models. His research articles have appeared in The Journal of Finance, The Financial Analysts Journal, and The Journal of Fixed Income, among other research publications. Over his career Dr. Barrett has served as a board member for financial institutions as well as consulting for, and working for, several investment management firms. He acted as a principal in Roda Asset Management, served as the Director of Research at Mellon Bond Associates, as well as a fixed income strategist and a portfolio manager at Mackenzie Investment Management working with the Ivy Mackenzie bond funds and institutional retirement funds. Dr. Barrett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Master of Science in Industrial Management and a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member and past President of the CFA Miami Society.
